Chili pepper aids digestion and helps prevent cardiovascular disease. It is also considered an aphrodisiac food.
You can find different degrees of spiciness and this depends on the amount of capsaicin they contain.
Chili pepper can be eaten fresh, dried, smoked, cooked or raw to flavour and aromatise any type of meat, fish, pasta dish or for sauces. In Italy it is widely used as a base for regional dishes, such as in Calabria for example for the typical "'nduja" or in Basilicata for the cruschi peppers and in general throughout the southern peninsula. Chili pepper gives such a great flavour to dishes that a "cult" of the kitchen, easy, quick but very rich in flavour are spaghetti seasoned simply with garlic, oil and chilli pepper.
